Jet Engines allow vehicles to accelerate and decelerate in the atmosphere. This simple jet engine turns power (typically provided by engines) into thrust. It is also possible to create Custom Jet Engines that turn fuel directly into thrust.

Application

They can be used for planes and ships. Depending on placement, controls will be automatically assigned to the Vehicle Controller.
An AI with an aerial AI card installed will use these for acceleration.

Requirement

Jet Engines require engine power to run. Each Jet Engine uses up to 1 power unit.
For it to run optimally, it needs 8 empty spaces behind it.

Output

It provides 100 units of force per notch. The further away from the center of mass the center-line of the Jet Engine is, the more it will impact the vehicles rotation.

Modes

In Main Thruster mode, thrust will be controlled with U and J regardless of the orientation of the jet.
In Thruster mode, the controls are dependent on the orientation of the jet. A thruster should be put on the front of the vehicle.
Since 1.23, Jet Engines have a Reverse Thruster mode. Reverse thrusters should be put on the rear of the vehicle.

Air Controls

T - Accelerate rear jets
G - Decelerate rear jets
H,Y - Left jets instantaneous power
K,I - Right jets instantaneous power
U - Up jets instantaneous power
J - Down jets instantaneous power

Limitations

They don't provide thrust under water, or when faced forward.
